14TH BOB MIRUS MEMORIAL @ CHAMPIONSGATE RESORT DRAWS PLAYERS FROM MANY TOURS

ChampionsGate, FL; It was a hot, steamy weekend in Orlando--after a week of rainy weither--as 101 players from 7 Golfweek Amateur Tours across the country challenged the two Greg Norman courses at ChampionsGate Resort in the 14th annual Bob Miirus Memorial.  The weekend wat highlighted by the TaylorMadeFittingExperience on Saturday afternoon.  Over a dozen members signed up for professional fittings for woods, irons, wedges or full sets.  TaylorMade Golf is a national sponsor of the Golfweek Amateur Tour.  Thanks to Scott Schaum and his team of fitters for adding to the success of our tournament.

Chad Frank 76-73-149 overtook first day leader Jeff Moritz 72-79-151 but then had to hold off a hard charging Terry Fisher (Jax) to take a 1-stroke victory in the Championship Flight.  Fisher shot 68 Sunday to move into second (82-68-150)  Drew Benson & Jeff Moritz tied for third with Benson winning the match of scorecards.  Chad also won the Senior Championship flilght, beating Bill Shufelt by five.

Steve Cleary took top honors in the A flight with rounds of 81-78-159.  He led after Day 1 and held off Robin Gomez )82-79-161 for the win.  John Marshall (84-80-164).  Bill Rambo won Senior A flight with rounds of 77-80-157.  Andy Baker was second (82-80-160)

B Flight needed a one hole playoff between Shane McAdams (NCF) and Rowland Brown to decide the winner.  After comingn from four strokes behind to force the playoff, Shane won the trophy on the first extra hole. Tim Miller (Birmingham) 85-81-166 to finish third.   Rowland Brown did come out on top in Senior B flight, beating Mark Klenck (80-88) by three

In C flight, new member Mason Coker 79-84-163 cruised to a six shot win over Derek Eden of Tampa (80-89-169.  Robert Courtney, also a new member, (85-90-175) finished in third.  Senior C flight went to Steve Downey on rounds of 93-89-182.  George Ricardo was second (99-86-185)

Po Lehman (Tampa) took the top prize in the D flight after rounds of 92-88-180.  It was two better than second place finishers Mark Harris (Tamps) and Orlando's Ben Beasley, with 192's.  Harris won the scorecard match.
