South Carolina in Pictures: 25 Beautiful Places to ...

Edisto Blown Away, well we were anyway....

The senior tour ventured down to quiet Edisto Island Edisto Champsto take on the Plantation Course at Edisto.  The weather called for warmer temperatures as Spring is trying desperately to wipe out the winter. In doing so Mother Nature brought out the winds as the course played extremely difficult with the 20-25 mph winds.

The Champ Flight had quite the battle going as both Rand Mendez and Mike Cobb fired front nine scores of 3 over par 38.  As the rest of the field would so find out the back nine played very difficult.  Mike managed to keep the ball in play and his back to back Birdies on 13 & 14 proved to be the winning formula.

The A flight saw a group of 6 golfers all finish with in 2 shots of each other.  It was the Birdie on hole 17 that propelled Tony Walters to his victory.  Wes Mahaffey’s 39 on the back nine elevated him to second place while And Balao finished in 3rd with a back nine score of 40.

The B flight the Augusta Boys come in and lay down the Law.  Patrick Rachels eased around Edisto with a solid round of 81 to out distance fellow Augusta member Larry Hyman who posted a smooth 84 to take home second place honors.

The C flight Saw Julie Johnson use her hometown knowledge to get around Edisto with a very nice round of 87 to cruise to victory.  Ed Cassady made a nice par on hole 18 to take second place honors away from visiting Tom Grenell (Southern Virginia).

The D flight was a battle all day as Troy Sieck of Charlotte used consistent play all Day to edge out his friend Joe Singletary by three shots.

Our next event is at Wedgefield in Georgetown on March 30.  This is a great track tucked in the oaks and waterways of Georgetown.  Please come on out for this one, it will be a lot of fun!
