Charleston Senior Tour Kicks off the season at Wild Dunes
The play for the senior tour began Monday the 17th of Feb after a couple weather postponements. The tour as usual did it in style with some very nice golf played
The Championship Flight saw Phil Pfeiffer kick off his season with an opening triple bogie. Phil rebounded from that to shoot even par the rest of the way out for a smooth 74 to outdistance second place finisher, Eric Maland by 4 shots.
The A flight saw the return of Eric Tobias to the tour to and he fired an opening tournament round of 77 to take home first place honors by a single stroke over visiting Matt Wiley from Michigan who posted a very solid round of 78. Steve Walters rounded out the top three winning a score card playoff over Dan Fagley as they both posted rounds of 82.
The B flight had our first playoff of the year as Wes Mahaffey and Rod Hoops both carded rounds of 6 over 78. Rod won the playoff on the first playoff hole. Sean Metzger finished two shots back with an 80 to round out the top three.
The C flight had the round of the day as Augusta’s Alex Gardner fired an even back nine with two birdies after opening with a 9 over 46 on the front. This was Alex’s lowest round ever on tour. Dennis Guerriero finished a distant second with an 87
The D flight saw our second play off as Hank Brinegar and Mitch Green both shot very nice rounds of 85. Again the first playoff hole proved to be the determining hole as Mitch Green won it on hole 1.
