2024 Senior Icebreaker Recap

 

Dean Parziale, Wayne McKenney, Kevin Martyn, John Kline and Jonathan Phillips all won the Senior Icebreaker at Sea Pines Resort!

The Senior Icebreaker Regional brought members from 20 local Tours across the country to Hilton Head Island and the Sea Pines Resort for the first Senior Regional tournament of the year. The Sea Pines Resort (Atlantic Dunes) and (Heron Point) hosted 94 Senior Amateur Tour members. The start of the 2024 season marks both the first regional and the 26th anniversary of the Senior Amateur Tour.

In the Championship Flight, Dean Parziale (Central Carolina) and Trey Coker (Louisiana Tour Director) were tied after the 36 holes. Parziale (Central Carolina) carded 80-77-157 and posted the victory on the first playoff hole with a par. Trey Coker shot rounds of 81-76-157 for a second-place finish. Eric Maland (Charleston) and Ronnie Averette (Louisiana) both fired 159 totals with Maland winning third-place money on the scorecard playoff.

In the A Flight, Wayne McKenney (Augusta) led wire to wire with rounds of 79-77-156 for the victory. Bob Hanneken (Jacksonville) finished second at 162 followed by Ken Gray (Eastern NC) with a two-day total of 163. Steve Evans (Costal GA) and Carlos Sanchez (Charlotte) both tied with 164 but it was Evans getting fourth-place money on the scorecard playoff.

In the B Flight, Kevin Martyn (Costal GA) claimed victory by just two strokes with rounds of 75-87-162. Robbie Robinson (Orlando Tour Director) finished second at 164 and Butch Savoie (Louisianna) finished third with 165. Jimmy Willis (Augusta) was fourth at 167 followed by Rick Napper (Indiana-Western KY) in fifth with 172.

In the C Flight, John Kline (Costal GA) won with scores of 85-82-167 for the victory, which also included an ace on Friday on the par three 7th hole at Atlantic Dunes. Scott Holland (Augusta) fished in second place with a two-day total of 173 followed by John Cullom (Augusta) in third with 177. Greg Martin (Central Carolina) was fourth at 180 followed by Doland Miller (Southern VA) in fifth with 181.

In the D Flight, Jonathan Phillips (Eastern NC) celebrated his two-year heart transplant anniversary by winning the crystal and posting 89-92-181. Michael Jordan (Southern VA) finished second with 194 followed by a tie for third between Rat Williams (Eastern NC) and Butch Novak (Columbus Tour Director) both with 196. Rat Williams grabbed third place money on the scorecard playoff.
