Stan Adams, Ken Eichele, Johnny Adams, Dallas Shackleford, and Owen Cuddington all won the Senior Masters Regional hosted by Cutter Creek Golf Club!
The Senior Masters Regional brought members from 11 Senior Tours from across the country to Snow Hill, NC for the first Senior Regional in the Eastern NC Area. Cutter Creek’s Pro Mike Wesco and his staff showcased why this course is one of the Top Courses in Eastern NC.
In the Championship Flight, Stan Adams (Eastern NC) led wire to wire recording scores of 71-75-146 followed by a fast-approaching Tom Dawson (Eastern NC) with a 2-Day score of 148 claiming 2nd place. Had to go to a scorecard tiebreaker based on Sunday’s round where Randy Townsend (Eastern NC) shot 74 to take 3rd place and Jerry Cunningham (Eastern NC) carded 75 (both players had a 2-Day total of 149) taking the 4th position.
In the A Flight, Ken Eichele (Central Carolina) came from three shots back and victorious on the 36th hole for the win carding 79-74-153. Followed by Glenn Brown (Eastern NC) finishing in 2nd place with a 156. A scorecard tiebreaker was needed to settle the positions between three players with total scores of 160. Coming down to Sunday’s round, Bobby Annison (Louisiana) shot 76, Mike Geske (Eastern NC) shot 79, and Bob Dail (Eastern NC) shot 82 placing them in 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively as all 3 carded 2-Day scores of 160.
In the B Flight, Johnny Adams (Eastern NC) claimed victory with two consistent rounds 77-77-154. Dan Johnson (Central Carolina) few 4-strokes behind claiming 2nd place with 158. Joseph Wirtz (Charlotte) recorded 161 to move into the 3rd position. Going to a scorecard tiebreaker, Andy Lane (Eastern NC) shot 75 on Sunday and Lyman Howard (Eastern NC) carded an 82 with a 2-Day score of 163 for 4th and 5th place.
In the C Flight, Dallas Shackleford (Eastern NC) and John Bowman (Charlotte) had to go into a sudden death playoff after both players posted a 2-Day total 164. On the first playoff hole, Shackleford’s makes a par to give him the victory and Bowman finishing 2nd place. Trevor Horne (Eastern NC) gained a lot of ground on day two missing out of the playoff by one stroke taking the 3rd position with a 165. Followed by Terry Westenfeld (Augusta) with a 170 taking 4th place.
In the D Flight, Owen Cuddington (Eastern NC) takes home the 1st place Masters Trophy based on scores 86-84-170. Sherrill Johnson (Eastern NC) made up some ground with posting a 177 for 2nd place. Falling three strokes behind Al Rodgers (Southern Virginia) carded 180 claiming 3rd place. Overnight leader Richard Pfister (Central Carolina) fell back on Day 2 posting 182 to maintain the 4th spot. Finishing out the flight in 5th place Troy Sieck (Charlotte) shot 92 beat out Jonathan Phillips (Eastern NC) with a 94 (both 2-Day total scores 184) in a scorecard playoff.
Congratulations to Brian Hollandsworth (Eastern NC) for winning the Srixon MKII Clubs donated by Srixon raising $1025 with the proceeds going to the Jimmy V Foundation – Cancer Research.
