Jon Coullier, Hawk Hawkins, Mike Jones, Jim Brock, and Troy Sieck all won the Third Annual Virginia Regional hosted by Williamsburg National Golf Club.
The Virginia Regional brought members from 11 of our Local Tours across the country to Williamsburg, Virginia. Two distinctly different Williamsburg golf experiences at the Jamestown Course and the Yorktown Course, all at one great golf club.
In the Championship Flight, Jon Coullier (Southern VA) led wire to wire to capture the victory with a 72-78-150. Mike Mitchell (Southern VA) took 2nd place with a 71-84-155.
A Flight winner was Hawk Hawkins (Southern VA) with a 74-77-151. Followed by Tim Middleton (Southern VA) finishing in taking 2nd Place carding a 157. Falling 2-strokes behind, Keith Gibert (Washington DC Metro) & Malcolm Adams (Southern VA) both posted a 2-Day total of 159. A scorecard tiebreaker was needed to settle 3rd and 4th place. Coming down to Sunday’s round, Gilbert shot a 77 to take 3rd place and Adams carding an 82-claiming 4th place.
B Flight, Mike Jones (Southern VA), Joe Young (Southern VA), Allen Bailey (Eastern NC) had to go a sudden death playoff after all 3 players posted a 2-Day total of 160. Going 6 holes, Mike Jones takes the victory, with Joe Young taking 2nd, followed by Allen Bailey finishing 3rd. Finishing in 4th place, Charles Wagstaff (Southern VA) with a 164.
C Flight, Jim Brock (Southern VA) finished on top with scores of 77-82-159. A scorecard tiebreaker was needed to settle 2nd place between two players with total scores of 162. David Teague (Central Carolina) takes 2nd posting an 81 on Tuesday’s round and Stan Sherman (Southern VA) finishing 3rd with a round of 82. We had a three-way tie for 4th place between Tom Grenell (Southern VA), Dave Faggert (Southern VA), and Nealan Chandler (Southern VA) all carding a 2-Day total of 168. Going to another scorecard tiebreaker, Grenell claims 4th place.
D Flight also had a sudden death playoff between Mark Mayes (Southern VA) and Troy Sieck (Charlotte NC) with both posting a 2-Day score of 174. Going two holes Sieck taking the victory and Mayes claiming 2nd place. A scorecard tiebreaker was needed again to secure 3rd and 4th place. Laurens Platteel (Southern VA) shot an 88 and Rolf Granger (Southern VA) shot a 93 placing them in the 3rd and 4th position with both carding a 2-Day score of 180.
Congratulations to Jim Brock (Southern VA) for winning the Cleveland CBX4 Zipcore Wedges donated by Srixon with proceeds ($210) going to the Jimmy V Foundation - Cancer Research.
