Chris Collins, John Caulfield, Michael Smith, Thomas Bullock and David Kubik all won their respective flights at the 2nd Annual Low Country Regional hosted by Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club on July 22nd and 23rd.
The Low Country Regional brought members from 15 of our Local Tours across the country to Pawley's Island, SC.
In the Championship Flight, Chris Collins (Charleston, SC) led wire-to wire by firing rounds of 69 on Day 1 and a blistering 65 for a 6 under par on Day 2, with a total score of 136 claiming the victory. Bruce Gantt (Charlotte) edged out Eli Villanueva (Central Carolina) 143 to 144. Mike Cobb (Charleston) rounded out the top 4 with a 2-Day total of 147.
The A flight had another wire-to wire winner as John Caulfied (Eastern NC) posted a solid round of 75 on Day 1 at Caledonia and followed it up with a smoking 1 under par at True Blue to take home top honors in the A flight. Danny Sweetman (Charlotte) posted a 143 finish second while Beth Hunt (Charleston) put up a 150 and Tim Sumption (Charleston, SC Tour Director) posted a 153 to round out the top four places.
The B flight was a battle all day long as the leader changed numerous times, Mike Smith (Central Carolina) stood tall after both rounds of 78-73-151 to bring it home! Larry Hyman (Augusta) whose Eagle on the par 5 on the 15th hole at True Blue was the difference in the scorecard playoff over Wes Mahaffey (Charleston, SC) who both posted 154.
The C Flight saw Thomas Bullock (Eastern NC) fire a round of 78 on True Blue to post a 2-Day total of 165 to secure a three-shot victory over David Teague (Central Carolina) carding 85-83-168. Carnell Luckett (Eastern NC) 86-83-169 and Steve High (Eastern NC) 87-84-171 finishing third and fourth, respectively.
The D Flight saw David Kubik (Augusta, GA) have a heck of a weekend carding an 86-94-180 and had a Hole-in-One at Caledonia on hole 9. Then to top it off, he was one of the five names drawn when all the Super Skins were cut!! Hank Brinegar (Charleston, SC) posting scores of 91-91-182 and Cleve Johnson (Charleston, SC) carding 96-91-187, rounding out the top three in the D Flight.
Congratulations to Brad Bettin (Jacksonville, FL) for winning the Srixon ZX7 MKII Irons donated by Srixon with proceeds ($800) going to the Jimmy V Foundation - Cancer Research.
