A gorgeous Carolina day greeted the players at Firethorne CC on this day. 78 players teed it up including a few newcomers to the tour. The new players are coming out ready to play and forcing the more experienced members to up their games to be competitive.
Champ Flight
We all know that this is the toughest competition on this tour, but not today. Jerry Sennett posted the lowest round of the year in 2018, shooting a 6 under par round of 66 and winning by 7 shots. Jerry's round consisted of 12 pars and 6 birdies. Jeff Brischke and Mark Hodges tied with 1 over par rounds of 73 and Larry Griffin Jr took home 4th with a round of 77.
A Flight
Phil VanGeersdaelen took home first place honors with a round of 78 and closes in on Gary Bell for the A Flight Points race. Gary Bell tied for 2nd with one of our new members Steve Weiler, both players shooting 80. Rounding out the top 4 was Steve Sovde playing in his second Senior Event of the year beating out Dave Aussicker in a scorecard playoff, both players shot 81.
B Flight
Allston Moore shoots an outstanding 75 to take home first place honors and a 4 shot victory. Tom Corrado and Bill Riddle tie for 2nd with 79's but it is Tom who wins the Scorecard playoff. Randall Gaston rounds out the top four shooting a round of 80.
C Flight
Howard Lofton joins the tour and takes home the victory with a 4 stoke win shooting 85 on this afternoon. Dan Keddie beats out Darrell Wilson on a scorecard playoff to take home second. Phil Schroeder takes 4th with a score of 90.
We now take a few weeks off as we prepare for the stretch drive. Our next event is a two-day event being held at the Peninsula Club on August 6th and Palisades CC on August 7th.
The next tour stop is The Senior Open on August 6th-7th!
