A beautiful Carolina afternoon greeted the players on this Wednesday afternoon. 73 golfers teed it up at 10:00 a.m. and by 2:30 p.m. The Awards presentation was well underway.
In the Championship Flight it was Scott Patnode who shot the only under par round of the day firing a 70 (-1). George Harris after narrowly missing the money last event, came back and shot even par 71 (E) to finish in solo second. We had a 3-way tie for third with all players shooting 73 (+2). After going to the scorecards, Bruce Gantt takes third, Mark Hodges fourth and Jeff Brischke takes home 5th.
In the A Flight, we had two players tie and 79 (+8). After going to the scorecards, Michael Lefevers takes the victory and Phil VanGeersdaelen had to settle for second place. Billy Cauthen takes solo third after shooting 80 (+9). We had 3 golfers tied for 4th place by shooting 81 (+10). After going to the scorecards again, Scott Ide takes fourth and Phil Seaman takes fifth.
In the B Flight, we see one of the hottest players on tour. Nolan Elenz after his win on the Golfweek Tour at his home course, fires a round of 75 (+4) to narrowly edge out Jack Beach who shot 75 (+5). Steve Williams takes solo third with a round of 78 (+7) and then we went back to the scorecards to settle a tie for fourth as two golfers tied with 79 (+8). In the end, Rick Fliss takes fourth and Bob Boettner takes home 5th.
In the C Flight, Mike Bouchon wins with a score of 80 (+9) to win by 3 shots. Sindo Mayor must settle for second shooting 83 (+12). Kevin Lepage continues to play consistent this year and takes third after shooting 85 (+14). We went back to the scorecards to settle 4th, 5th and 6th after 3 golfers tied with 86 (+15). In the end, Rondal Gibson takes 4th and Larry Hinson takes home 5th.
