Champ Flight

We are super excited to have Chad Frank as a member of our tour. A true gentleman and one of the best amateur golfers in the country. Chad birdied 16 and 17 to catch and pass clubhouse leader Dave Rummells (Orlando) to claim a one-shot win. Bill Shufelt (Orlando) takes home third, three shots back. The conditions on Sunday at RSCGL were truly "Open" conditions with the sustained 30-40 mph winds. These guys showed why we may have the toughest champ flight on tour.

A Flight

As I learn the names and faces of the players on tour, Don Manuel calmly walked up and asked me if he won anything. I asked him how he did, he said "I think I won" LOL A gritty 76 in the conditions was a great score as he held off Tom Dillon (Orlando) for a one-shot victory. Dwayne Divers (Orlando ) and Barry Hauser (Orlando) took home third and fourth three shots out of the lead. This flight will be a "knockdown drag out" all season with the quality players up and down this lineup.

B Flight

Jim Kenney is holding up two fingers as he ran the table this weekend. He also won the Golfweek event held Saturday at RSCGL. After recently retiring and becoming an official "Snowbird" blue hair and all. He has dialed in his game and is ready to have a huge season. His 75 on Sunday gave him a three stroke win over Tour Director Mark Klenck with Pancho Munoz (Orlando) flexing early in the season taking third. B Flight is full of scrappy golfers, expect a dogfight at every tour stop.

C Flight

Ray Rodriguez has been a great friend and has been a sponsor for the South Florida Golfweek Tour as well as Orlando for many years. I was super excited to hand him the trophy with the McDonalds' Arches as well as the slogan I'm lovin it inscribed. His two front-nine birdies set the pace as he came out hot and made the rest of the pack chase. Dan Podawiltz (Orlando) and Stephen Johnson (Orlando) kept the heat on but Ray never looked back claiming the W.

D Flight

Scott Luurtsema joins our tour thanks to Tampa Golfweek Directors Shane and Marie graciously offering a combo membership on their homepage. His group played the last two holes in very very low light but his smile coming off 18 lit up the whole course. A great round of 83 puts him in the winner's circle at this tour stop. Frank Rampersad (Orlando) claimed second in a scorecard playoff with Billy Evertz (Orlando) as they also both shot great rounds. These guys were joking and cracking on each other every time I went by them, showing friends and true sportsmanship at play.
