Colonial CC

May 22, 2025

Colonial CC is a course that can challenge your golf skills. The Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour took that challenge on Thursday May 22nd. The fabulous Thomasville course was drenched in sunshine after the overcast burned off making the golf conditions perfect.

In the Champ flight, Kevin McDougald continued his fine play firing a 76 to eke out the single shot victory. That gave Kevin back to back wins. Well done Kevin!  Dean Parziale grabbed the runner up honors with a round of 77, while Chris Bloebaum took third with a score of 79. Fourth place went to Lee Everhart’s 82, and Ron Brady’s 86 rounded out the top five places.

Bo Crooks shot an excellent three over par score of 74 to pull off the single stroke A flight victory. Outstanding golf Bo!  Brooks Roberts carded a round of 75 to rack up the second place finish, while Paul Hundhammer’s 76 gave him a top three finish. John East landed in fourth place with a score of 77, while Alan Dirk’s 78 finished a shot back in fifth.

In the B flight, Bobby Shipwash posted a great round of 80 to keep the string of single shot victories intact. Awesome golf Bobby!  Dave Turner captured the second place finish with his round of 81, and Michael Broadway seized third by turning in 83. David Teague garnered the fourth place finish with an 84, while Gil Ro completed the top five list with an 85.

Rudi Heath from the Charlotte Tour broke the string of one shot wins by recording 81 enroute to the four stroke victory. Great golf Rudi!  Derek Loughlin also from the Charlotte Tour claimed the runner up spot shooting a score of 85, as Keith Meeks snagged third place by entering a score of 87. Rob Geilhausen bagged the fourth place slot scoring an 88. And Benton Smith ended his day posting 89 closing the top five list.

Challenge GC

May 8, 2025

On Thursday May 8th, the Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour took on the challenge of the Challenge in Graham. Perfect weather and great greens led to some great scores as you will see below.

In the Champ flight, Kevin McDougald recorded his first winning score of the year posting 77. It was a five shot victory. Well done Kevin!  Spurling Cook and Jeff Rich were tied in the runner up position with rounds of 82. Ron Brady placed fourth with a score of 89.

John East came out firing in the A flight and ended the round with an even par 72 for a three stroke win. It was his second win this season. Outstanding golf John!  Bo Crooks grabbed the second place spot shooting 75, while Paul Hundhammer captured third place closing with a 77. Fourth place belongs to Ken Eichele with his round of 78, and Tour Director Chuck Smith rounded out the top five by carding an 83.

In the B flight, another fantastic score was turned in. Eddie Jaggars fired an even par 72 to take the six shot victory. Awesome golf Eddie!  Wilson Shelton’s round of 78 was good for the runner up slot, and Gil Ro’s 81 was good for third place. Mike Wolstenholme shot an 82 to wrap up fourth place, while Ben Martin completed the top five list with an 83.

Excellent scores continued into the C flight as Greg Martin seized the lead early and finished with a terrific score of 82 collecting the five shot victory. Great golf Greg!  The runner up was Keith Meeks with his round of 87, while Mike Groom picked up third place honors by posting 90. Benton Smith banged out a score of 91 to garner fourth, as Herbert Seal notched a top five finish with his 96.

In the D flight, Tour Director Sola Smith started slowly, but that did not last long. She made par on the number one handicap fifth hole, caught fire and never looked back enroute to an 88 and an eight shot victory. Honestly it wasn’t that close, I saw it all. Great golf and congrats on your first 2025 win Sola!  Jamie Hill claimed the runner up position by carding 96, while Tom Kubla held on to third place with 97. Fourth place became a T4 as Richard Pfister and Kelly Brown turned in matching scorecards with scores of 98.

The next event for the Central Carolina Tour takes place at Colonial CC in  Thomasville on Thursday May 22nd. Seriously, you do not want to miss this beauty. Great track and great conditions. Do yourself a favor and sign right now!

Chapel Ridge

April 17, 2025

Thursday April 17th members of the Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour and guests from other Tours gathered in Pittsboro to compete at the Chapel Ridge Golf Club. Cool temps greeted the early combatants but the day soon warmed into a near perfect golf day.

In the Champ flight, Steve Lassiter put together an excellent round of golf shooting an even par 72 in victory. Outstanding golf Steve!  Right behind Steve, Eli Villanueva and Chris Bloebaum shot matching scores of 74 as co-runners up. Fourth place was also a tie as Kevin McDougald and Ron Brady recorded rounds of 77.

Paul Hundhammer won by a single stroke for his first win in the A flight this season by posting a round of 77. Great golf Paul!  Chris Rowland placed second with a score of 78, while Alan Dirk grabbed third place honors by carding a 79. Just like the Champ flight, fourth place was a T4 ending as Ron Hockensmith and Jay Yergeau turned in rounds of 80.

In the B flight, Eddie Jaggers continued his fine play firing a score of 79 to grab back to back wins. Well done Eddie!  Bobby Shipwash ended the day a single shot back in the runner up position with an 80, as Shawn Cacioppo returned a score of 81 to snag third place. Tim Baldwin carded 84 to take fourth, while Walt Oddo from the Southern Virginia Tour rounded out the top five with his round of 86.

Keith Meeks pulled off a three shot victory in the C flight by shooting an excellent round of 82. Well played Keith. Gerald Horton from the Eastern NC Tour captured second place with his round of 85, while Greg Martin posted 87 in the top three finish. Herbert Seal racked up a fourth place finish with a score of 90, and James McPherson Sr rounded out the top five list with a round of 93.

In the D flight, Kelly Brown started well and kept rolling to card a great round of 82 to win by 6 shots while collecting his second win of the season. It was fun to watch it live. Awesome golf Kelly!  Marty Carpenter’s round of 88 gave him the runner up slot, while Gary Stacy from the Eastern NC Tour wrapped up third place shooting 91. One final T4 occurred as Jamie Hill and Richard Pfister posted identical scores of 94 to close out the top five.

The next challenge for the Central Carolina Tour will fittingly take place at …….. wait for it …….. The Challenge of course. Competition will take place in Graham on Thursday May 8th with a 9am straight tee start. Come out and challenge your game with us!

Riverwood GC

March 3, 2025

The Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour invaded Clayton on Thursday April 3rd to attempt to tame the Riverwood Golf Club, Riverview-Deer Run nines. Warm weather welcomed the participants making for a pleasant day for golf.

In the Champ flight, Mark Macejko fired an excellent score of two over par 74 on the challenging layout to claim his first win in the young season. Well done Mark!  Randy Beall from the Augusta GA Tour was a slim single shot back in the runner up slot. Eli Villanueva continues to play well with a round of 76 taking third place, while Spurling Cook carded 78 for a fourth place finish. Chris Bloebaum shot 79 to round out the top five.

Eighteen holes of golf did not produce a winner in the A flight, as Charlotte Tour Director Scott Ide and Dave Baldwin returned matching scores of 77. An on course playoff is required to break ties for first place so the competitors went back to the first tee to determine the winner. Apparently neither man was tired because the first three playoff holes led to nothing but par after par after par. On the fourth hole, Scott would roll in a putt for par again, but Dave’s par putt missed the hole making Scott the victor. Great golf gentlemen and Congrats to Scott!  Jay Yergeau posted 81 for the top three finish, while Tour Director Chuck Smith and Ken Eichele ended their day T4 with rounds of 83.

In the B flight, it was nip and tuck all day, but in the end Eddie Jaggers pulled out a one shot victory by shooting a score of 80 edging out two chasing competitors. Well played Eddie!  The two players turning in the runner score of 81 were Shawn Cacioppo and Tim Baldwin. Bobby Shipwash placed fourth alone with a round of 82, while Johnny Taylor from the Eastern NC Tour and Ben Martin ended the event T5 with matching 84’s.

Another roller coaster ride developed in the C flight, but when the ride pulled into the station, Steven Wrenn from the Eastern NC Tour stood alone with a score of 87 grabbing the trophy and the victory. Well done Steven!  No less than three players finished with the runner up score of 88. Mike Groom, Jim Wrenn from the Eastern NC Tour, and Benton Smith all shared the magic runner up spot. Keith Meeks and James McPherson Sr closed out the top five scoring with a pair of 91’s.

In the D flight, Marty Carpenter continued with a hot hand collecting his second win in three events. Marty started hot and led wire to wire posting an excellent score of 86. Awesome golf Marty!  Second place wasn’t another threeway but a tie nonetheless as Tour Director Sola Smith and Tom Kubla matched scorecards with scores of 93. Fourth place became a T4 ending as Kelly Brown, and Sherrill Johnson from the Eastern NC Tour recorded 94 each.

The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge in Pittsboro is the next challenge for the Central Carolina Tour. Thursday April 17th is the date, with straight tee times starting at 9am. Sign up today while you’re on your phone or laptop!

In the Champ flight, Eli Villanueva continued his great play shooting the low round of the tournament. His round of 78 made Eli a six shot winner in the windy conditions. Congrats Eli!  The runner up score of 84 was posted by Dean Parziale, while Kevin McDougald wrapped up third place with a score of 85. Fourth place was a four way tie as Dan Anthony, John East, Alan Dirt, and Ron Hockensmith all ended the day with identical 87’s.

In the B flight, Shawn Cacioppo got off to a good start in the wind. He continued playing well and made his round of 81 stand up for a three shot victory. Great golf Shawn!  The runner up slot was a T2 finish as Lee Jouglard and Eddie Jaggers carded scores of 84, while Cisco Almodovar snagged fourth place by scoring an 85. Shane Farrar, Tim Baldwin, and Mike Wolstenholme ended the event T5 with equal rounds of 86.

Dan Caffelle continued a hot start to the 2025 season in the C flight by posting the score of 86 in a three stroke victory. Well done Marty!  Richard Pfister’s round of 96 gave him the second place finish, while Cal Rogers landed in third place with a score of 100. Nick Long snapped up fourth place with a 102, and Tour Director Sola Smith rounded out the top five by carding 103.

Keith Hills GC

February 27, 2025

On Thursday February 27th, the Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour travelled east to Lillington to take on the Campbell University Keith Hills Golf Club. It was perfect weather for golf and the competition was spirited.

In the Champ flight, 18 holes of golf could not decide who would be on top at the end of the day so an on course sudden victory playoff was required. Eli Villanueva from the Eastern NC Tour and Ron Brady would go head to head as both players fired 2 over par scores of 74. Play began on the par 5 hole 2 where both players made par, so across the street they went to see if the par 3 would produce a winner. Eli made sure it would end there as he rolled in a birdie putt to top Ron’s par. Congratulations Eli! Dean Parziale placed third with a round of 76, while Spurling Cook grabbed fourth place carding 80. Rounding out the top 5, Steve Lassiter and Kevin Mcdougald recorded scores of 81.

Bo Crooks posted a round of 77 in the A flight enroute to a three stroke victory giving him back to back wins and a very hot start for the new season. Awesome golf Bo!  John East and Alan Dirk were co-runner ups by posting a pair of 80’s, while Ken Eichele and Tour Director Chuck Smith ended their day T4 with matching scorecards of 82.

Cisco Almodovar snagged fourth place with a score of 87, and Tim Baldwin rounded out the top five list with an 88.

Daniel Caffelle made a late charge in the C flight enroute to a round of 88 for a come back two stroke victory. That makes Dan two for two in the win department for 2025. Dale Wilson, and Rich Henn from the Eastern NC Tour posted 94 apiece to end the day T4.

Hyland Hills Opener
February 13, 2025

Welcome to the 2025 Central Carolina Tour season. After a rain delay at Hyland Golf Club in Southern Pines on Thursday Feb 13th, the players  took off for their starting holes. It was cool and damp but the course was quite playable and the competition stiff.

In the Champ flight, Eli Villanueva from the Eastern NC Tour pulled out a two shot victory by posting a two over par 74. Well done Eli!  John East garnered second place with a nice round of 76. Spurling Cook and Chris Bloebaum finished their day T3 with matching rounds of 79.

The A flight required an on course playoff as Bo Crooks, and Mike Geske from the Eastern NC Tour carded identical rounds of 76. The sudden victory playoff proceeded to hole one to determine who would take the first place honors on opening day. Bo rolled in a par putt on that first hole that Mike wasn’t able to match, making Bo the first winner of the new season. Awesome golf Bo!  Tour Director Chuck Smith and Jay Yergeau finished T3 with scores of 78. Fifth place was a three way tie as Mike Gonsalves from the Eastern NC Tour, Ken Eichele, and Dan Anthony all returned scores of 79.

In the B flight, Mike Wolstenholme fired an incredible round of golf shooting a score of 74 to grab the one shot win. Great round of golf Mike!  Wilson Shelton was the runner up by shooting that round of 75, while Eddie Jaggers placed third by posting a round of 76. Fourth place was a three way tie as Johnny Gill from the Southern Virginia Tour, Rob Andrews, and Tim Coleman also from the Southern Virginia Tour all carded scores of 77.

In the D flight, Benton Smith got off to a great start and kept it going to the last to record a four shot victory with his round of 86. Kudos Benton. The runner up position was a tie as Marty Carpenter, and Jay Thompson from the Washington DC Metro Tour shot matching rounds of 90. Fourth place was captured by Tom Kubla with his round of 94, while Nick Long completed the top five list by posting a 95.
