Greensboro, NC (September 15, 2011) - Davidson's Mike Gaisbauer had been in a slump for most of this season on the Senior Amateur Golf Tour. Gaisbauer, a 12-year Tour veteran, was used to visiting the winner's circle "on-Tour" on a fairly regular basis during his early days of competition. Recent play had not been so kind to him - that is until last week at Hyland GC in Southern Pines where he shot a smooth 1-under, 71 to grab the top spot in the A Flight. Just to prove that effort was no "flash-in-the-pan", he followed up last week's effort with a 73 today at Forest Oaks Country Club, once again besting the A Flight field for his 2nd win in as many weeks. "I coulda gone lower", remarked Gaisbauer, referring to a number of putts he left just short. "But two in a row is pretty nice with any score". Durham's Bill Martinson was one stroke back in second. Another consecutive win streak was snapped in the Championship Flight as Pinehurst's Rick Luzar, who had won 5 Tour starts in-a-row, dating back to April finally saw someone else take 1st place honors as Cary's Johnny Adams shot a 1-under 71 for the win. As a matter of fact, Luzar had to settle for a 4th place finish, as Raleigh's Mark Craige and Lewisville's Mike Smith took 2nd & 3rd with 72s. "We've been looking for some healthy competition in the Championship Flight, and it looks like we might have it now", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. In the C Flight, another Tour "vet" - Jim Pritchett of Winston-Salem, who had only broken 90 three times in his last 13 Tour events, equaled his lowest score of the last 3 years with an 81 to win the C Flight. He nipped Greensboro's Charles Gunn by a single stroke. In the most tightly contested flight race, Durham's Tom Whatley bested a trio of golfers - Galax VA's John Ashby, Pinehurst's Tom Kubla, and Chapel Hill's Grady Strickland by 1-stroke (76 to 77) to emerge victorious in the B Flight. "Beautiful weather, great course & competition, and almost 100 players competing made for a great event today", stated Hallenbeck. "We expect more of the same next week at The Farm Course of Greensboro Country Club".
