DURHAM'S BLEAU FIRES "BEST EVER" ROUND FOR SENIOR TOUR WIN
Posted: 9/23/2011 9:56:21 AM
Greensboro, NC  (September 22, 2011)  -  Recently a number of Senior Amateur Tour players have posted their best career Tour rounds to find success in a scheduled event.  Very seldom is that best "Tour" round also their personal best golf round ever.  Today proved to be the exception to that rule as Durham's Neil Bleau shot a 75 in B Flight competition at Greensboro Country Club - The Carlson Farm Course - for a 3-stroke Tour victory - his best scoring round of golf ever. "Actually it was kinda boring", said Bleau afterwards.  "All I did was hit fairways and greens.  The difference today is that even though I knew where I was (score-wise), I avoided any big disasters late in the round.  The fairways were like carpets and the greens rolled true, so keeping it in play off the tee made it sort of easy".  Knightdale's Harry Mosher was second with a 78, aided by an eagle-2 on the 379 yard, par-4, 12th hole.  This was Harry's best Tour effort as well.

Two Rockingham golfers, Sonny Rose and John East, fought it out for A Flight supremacy, with Rose's 74 proving to be 1 better than what East posted.

The C Flight also produced some low scoring and an equally close race for the top spot as Greensboro's Mike Hunter edged a trio of golfers by 1 stroke with an 81.  Rolesville's Bill Wilkinson took 2nd in a card playoff with Ron Alligood of Clemmons and Bill McGee of Durham coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Pinehurst's Rick Luzar, after having his 5-event win streak snapped last week, assumed his normal position at the top of the list with a 2-under 70 to take 1st in the Championship Flight.  Danville VA's John Franklin was 2 back in second.  "If I didn't 3-putt 18, I would have broken 70", lamented Luzar.
