Pinehurst, NC  (September 29, 2011)  -  From top to bottom - Championship to C Flight - if you wanted a shot at winning in the Senior Amateur Golf Tour event held at Longleaf Country Club today, you needed to bring out the "big-guns".

All four flight winners scored in the 70s, led by Carrboro's Jim Guidici in the Championship Flight who fashioned a 1-under 70 for a 3 stroke margin of victory over Cary's Steve Linton.  Guidici enjoyed a red-hot putter all day.  "He (Guidici) didn't miss a single putt from inside 15 feet", noted Linton.

In the A Flight, which played from 500 yards shorter than the Championship boys at about 6,100 yards, you needed a hot hand to top the list as well as Rockingham's John East fired a 71 to also finish 3 strokes clear of his closest pursuers, Brent Massey of Raleigh and George Paris of Durham.

John Ashby of Galax, VA took top honors in the B Flight with a 77 that was 4 shots better than Southern Pines' James Dockery and Hamlet's James Herndon.  Dockery had some kind words about Ashby's play: " He wasn't hitting it overly long, but he never left the fairway, he made a lot of GIR's (greens in regulation), and made a lot of critical putts".

Not to be outdone in C Flight competition, Durham's Bill McGee also broke the magical 80 barrier with a 79 that had him 7 shots clear of Southern Pines' Tony Robison.  "McGee has been a different player lately than when he started on-Tour", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck.  "Like all Tour members, we'll closely examine his Tour handicap, which was over 15 prior to this event, and see if it warrants a 'Battlefield promotion'.  Although this is what we love to see - our guys getting better under the test of Tour competition".

The next Tour event is at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford on October 6th.  Spots are available to compete in that tournament.
