THREE PLAYOFFS HIGHLIGHT LEGENDS EVENT

WILLIAMS WINS FOR FIRST TIME IN D FLIGHT, CHAMP, SrCHAMP, & A ALL NEED PLAYOFFS, DeTORRES DOUBLES IN B & SrB

RICH WILLIAMS WINS FOR FIRST TIME IN D FLIGHT

On one of the last spring days with mild temps and low humidity, 84 Golfweek Amateur Tour members enjoyed a pleasant day at the Legends GC in Clermont.  It was an exciting day as three playoffs were needed to settle things in the Championship flight as well as the A flight and senior Championship flight... .

MARK FARROW TOPPED DAVID PARKER IN A-FLIGHT PLAYOFF

Championship Flight:   John Bessette captured his third straignt win, but he needed a playoff to do it this week.  He and Chad Frank each came in with a 4-over 76's.  They headed back to #18 for a sudden victory playoff that ended when John parred the hole.  Kelly Ballard.  Four players tied for third one stroke back;  Matt Tickle, Dennis Brady, Mike Menyhart and Jim Hammons.  Mike Menyhart and Jim Hammons' 77's topped the Senior Championship flight (Dennis Brady wasn't there for the playoff).  Again, #18 was enough to decide the winner as Menyhart took his second straight victory and moved to the top of the Points Standings.

A Flight:  Scores were bunched in A flight as: Mark Farrow and David Parker were the only players breaking 80.  They matched 79's and headed back out for a playoff.  Mark came back with the victory.  Jon Blum (NCF) finished 3rd with 80.  Another stroke back was  Sam Bellamy (81).  Four players were another stroke back with 82's..   Bob Casamento, back after a year away from the tour. shot 77 to win the Senior A Flight.  David Parker was second (81).

C Flight:  Sam Mellor of the North Central Florida tour scored a one stroke victory in C flight with 84.  He edged past Gordon Gibbs (85).    Lambert, (Jacksonville tour) finished 3rd with 88
