GRANDE PINES SETS STAGE FOR FINAL 2 EVENTS

JOHN BESSETTE TAKES OVER CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT POINTS LEAD; RAY RODRIGUEZ WINS B & SENIOR B

Grande Pines Winners, (L-R) Alex Hargaden (A), Rick Williams (D), John Bessette (Champinonship)

92 Golfweek Amateur Tour members enjoyed two days of great competition on Marriott’s Grande Pines Golf Club in Orlando.  The challenging layout provided a great test for our last major of the season.  It was a test of endurance as temperatures soared into the mid-90-s both days.

Championship Flight:  Reigning Player of the Year Chad Frank opened with a 70 to lead Doug Powell by one stroke in the Championship Flight.  However, Sunday was a different day as steady John Bessette posted a 72 to go with 74 on Saturday and edge past Chad (70-77) & Danny Nash (74-73) for first place.

A Flight:  North Central Florida member Alex Hargaden captured the A flight with 75-71-146, leading from start to finish.  Mark Farrow was second after 79-75-154.  Gary Martinet was third with 156.  Hargaden is headed for Championship Flight after his great outing.

Grande Pines Winners; Ray Rodriguez (R) B & SrB Flights, Rick Whitman (C) Flight

B Flight:  B flight saw tour veteran Ray Rodriguez win after rounds of 80-87-167.  He edged Dan Seidenfaden (82-87-169) by two shots.  Eric Kellough took third with 172.

C Flight:  C flight went to Rick Whitman.  He shot 89-86-175 for a five shot win over three players—Juan Restrepo (93-87), Michael Moore (87-93) and Joe Porter (86-94), all finishing on 180.

D Flight:  Rich Williams scored a victory in D flight with scores of 96-96-192.  Steve Start and Brandon Prokop shared second with 195 totals.
