JUNE 19, Sunshine The Cleaning Masters Open @ Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes

MORITZ GRABS ONE SHOT WIN; MANNING WINS BIG IN A FLIGHT; DeTORRES, HARRIS DOUBLE IN B, SrB & C, SrC, RESPECTIVELY

The Golfweek Amateur Tour played a rare afternoon event--for good reason--June 19 at the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes for Sunshine The Cleaning Masters Open.  We started at noon, played about 5 holes and got stopped by an afternoon storm.  It passed in about a half hour and we returned to the course.  While we didn't have any more delays, we did finish in a light rain that is not unusual this time of year. Jeff Moritz birdied his last hole for a 1-under 71 to edge past Kelly Ballard by a stroke in Championship flightMike Menyhart whipped up a nifty 33 on the back side but ended up on 73 for third.  Bill Shufelt held the hot hand in senior Championship as he fired a 31 on the back nine, finished on 71 and held off Menyhart by two.

A Flight was just the opposite as Jason Manning cruised to an 8 shot win after shooting 75.  Eric Kellough was second.  Donnie Dunivant posted a nice 76 to top Byron Murrell in senior A flight. He shot 80.

Bill DeTorres won a playoff with Ray Rodgiquez for victory in the Golfweek & Senior B flights. They shot 80.  Rex Hyder and Jerry Fleming were second in B & Senior B, respectively.   Joe Harris won the C & SrC Flights with 88, beating Rick Whitman by 6 in the senior C flight.   Harris   beat Jonathan Pinkney (CIN) on the first extra hole for the Golfweek C title.

The D flight saw Steve Eberly shoot 87 and edged Kenney Brumfield by 3 shots.  Ron Hinkley (NCF) was third after a 92.
