The Golfweek Amateur Tour / Orlando made its annual trip to Brevard County to play the Fairway Management Open @ Duran Golf Club.  On a hot July day, many players found this course to their liking.. 

Championship flight belonged to Jeff Moritz as he fired a solid  5-under 67 to claim the win.     Garrett Morrison shot 68 for second.  Mike Goulet (Jacksonville) also finished under pay with 71.  Iin the Senior Championship flight, Chad Frank topped the field with even par 72..

A Flight saw a playoff between Ed Paterniti and Robbie Robinson, each with fine rounds of 76..  Ed was victorious on the first extra hole.  Robin Gomez took third with 77, beating Jason Manning on a scorecard playoff.    In Senior A Flight, Bill Rambo (73) was one better then Doug Conklin (74) of the NCF Tour.

Neil Corbett First 72 to capture B and Senior B Flights

Neil Corbett (72) grabbed victory in B Flight after shooting an even par 72 that included three birdies.  It was a great round, but MJ Moore and Sam Lewis (Hilton Head) gave chase with 75 and 77, respectively for 2nd and 3rd.   Neil "doubled" in Senior B and took first with Miles Anderson taking second after a 79..  Ray Rodriguez took third with 81..

Austin Grimm shot 80 to win C flight.  And for the third week in a row, the winner earned a promotion to the B flilght as Austin will move up the next time out.   Congratulations on your fine performance.   Todd Smith took second with 82.  Dan Podawiltz and Charlie James tied for third with 83's..  Podawiltz topped the Senior C flight with his 83 and Gator Gatrell was second on 86.

D Flight saw Ben Beasley take the top spot after a good round of 83.  Robert Russ  was second wit 85.  Matt Wagenheim (NCF) was third with 87..

The Golfweek Amateur Tour / Orlando returned to North Shore Golf Club another course we have'nt been to in quite some time.   The course is in good conditions with very nice greens.  A lousy weather forecast produced only a couple of quick showers as we finished without delay.  For the second straignt tournament, Championship flight had a playoff--this time three players--Garrett Morrison, Tom Dillon & Jeff Moritz all came in with 75.  Dillon went out on the first extra hole and then Garrett edged past Jeff on the second extra hole for the win.     Bill Shufelt, (75, was victorious in the Senior Championship flight.

Byron Murrell--Senior A Flight

A Flight went to Robin Gomez with nifty 2-under 7.  Michael Gomes and Steve Cleary tied for second with 74's, a score that usually wins A flight--but not today.  Dennis Cargo and Steve Cleary (78) tied for fourth.  Tony Cordova earned a promotionto Championship flight following this event.

In Senior A Flight, Byron Murrell, Brad Bettin and John Fry needed  extra holes after each shot 78.  Byron won out on the fourth extra hole.

Rowland Brown (80) grabbed victory in B Flight.  He beat Mark Klenck (81), followed by Neil Corbett (82) in third.   Rowland and Mark "double" in Senior B and took first and second, respecively..

For the second tournament in a row, it took a 79 to win C flight.  And for the second week in a row, the winner earned a promotion to the B flilght as Billy Davis was this week's winner by four strokes over Grant Ripley and Steve Barker (83).  Billy earned a promotion to B Flight his next time out for his fine play.  Billy also took ienior C and Rick Whitman (89) was seecond.  Billy will also be going to Senior B flight next time out.   D Flight saw Ben Beasley take the top spot after a one hole playoff with Trey Horrell.  Each shot 96.
