MALLOCH GETS FIRST TOUR WIN IN SUDDEN-DEATH, MORRISON ALSO WINS IN SUDDEN-DEATH, BLAKENSHIP WINS
OCALA, FL—Mike Malloch and Wayne Morrison provided plenty of drama with sudden-death victories yesterday (Thursday, April 26) in the Senior Amateur Golf Tour of North Central Florida tournament at Country Club of Ocala.
This was the third playoff Malloch has been in and as he happily said at the scoring table, “I finally won one!” He shot a 95 in regulation play along with Barry Plesser in the C Flight. The victory was sealed after only one hole and is his first win on the Tour.
In the A Flight, Morrison tied with Paul Bastien in regulation play with an 83. Bastien got in trouble off the first tee of the playoff and Morrison capitalized on the miscue and won on the first hole.
Chuck Blankenship won the B Flight by shooting an 89.
Closest to the pin in the A Flight was won by Ted Kowalczyk at the par 3 #8 with a shot to 25 ft., 7 in. The B and C Flight was a lot tighter on the par 3 #11 with a four players in the group with in 10 feet of the cup; but, Barry Plesser came closest at 6 ft., 8.5 in.
Birdies in the A Flight paid $30 each; in the B and C Flight the lone birdie paid $50.
The next tournament is at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, FL, on Thursday, May 17. Deadline to register and pay is Thursday, May 10.
