RATLIFF, SAVINETTI GET FIRST WINS IN SUDDEN-DEATH; HAYES GETS FIRST WIN ALSO; FOSTER WINS AGAIN
SORRENTO, FL—It was sudden-death playoff day at the North Central Florida Senior Amateur Golf Tour tournament at RedTail Golf Club last Saturday (Feb. 23, 2013).
Two flights were settled on the course after regular play concluded; one playoff had three players and went three extra holes.
In the A Flight, Dennis Nault, Robbie Robinson and Adair Ratliff finished 18 tied with 83’s. These three, who played together in the same foursome in the tournament, teed it up on number one to start playoff play. Robinson was out on the second hole, coming in third. Ratliff claimed his first Tour victory on the third playoff hole, and Nault came in second.
In the B Flight, Rick Phelps and Lou Savinetti played 18 in 82 strokes, each carding one birdie. They went into to sudden-death playoff mode for two holes with Savinetti closing out his first win this year on the third hole. Phelps claimed second and Neil Corbett was third with an 85.
In the Championship flight, Bill Foster had two birdies to shoot 74 and win over Steve Stuetzle, even though Stuetzle sank three birdies and an eagle, was second.
Racking up his first win on Tour, Quinn Hayes shot a 91 and take the C Flight. He recorded a birdie on the sixteenth hole. First time player Jesse Dayton came in second in a score card playoff with a 92; Chuck Baker was third.
Championship and A Flight birdies paid $35 each; B and C Flight birdies paid $29 each.
