PELT, BRIGHTBILL WIN BACK-TO-BACK; STUETZLE, STANHOPE WIN FIRST TIME
OCALA, FL—Glen Pelt and Les Brightbill won their flight for the second time in a row in the North Central Florida Senior Amateur Golf Tour tournament at Stone Creek Golf Club in Ocala, last Saturday (Feb. 9).
Pelt claimed birdies on the seventh and the eleventh holes to a final score of 75 in the A Flight. Brightbill won the B Flight again in a score card playoff with Floyd Blake. Brightbill had birdies on the fourth and the twelfth on the way to his 80. Meanwhile Blake stayed consistent thru the round for his 80. Brightbill pared the number two handicap hole to seal the win.
In the Championship flight, Steve Stuetzle had birdies on the seventh and fifteenth hole on the way to shooting a smooth 74, to take his first win on the Tour.
In the C Flight, Jim Stanhope shot an 83 to win first place, and his first victory on Tour, his score included birdies on the fourth and twelfth holes. Rounding out the C Flight, Don Dorsey was second with an 84 in a score card playoff with Bob Molsick who placed third.
Coming in second in the A Flight was Robbie Robinson with a 77. John McLaurin finished third with an 80.
Placing third in the B Flight was Larry Spellman, who shot an 82.
Champ and A Flight birdies paid $20 each; B, C and D Flight birdies paid $50 each.
The next tournament is Feb. 23 at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento. Deadline to register and pay is Feb. 16.
