Meadowlands Golf Club | |
|
As you recall, Meadowlands has long rolling fairways and luscious bent grass greens. However, don't be lulled to sleep, if you are not careful it will snap you back to reality very quickly and cause you to card some big scores on some holes. But if you pay attention, low scores can be had. Meadowlands was designed and created by Hale Irwin, one of the games greatest players and is a golf course that is both rewarding and challenging. Arrive early enough to take advantage of their practice facility which has an excellent driving range, short game area and putting green that should help you mentally shave a few strokes off your score. Expect your peers to have already signed-up. You know the drill - to sign-up call Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 or email him at behgolf@aol.com Club Address & Info: Meadowlands Golf Club 542 Meadowlands Drive Winston-Salem, NC 27107 (336) 769-1011 |

Improve Your Golf Fitness To Play Better Golf During Your Round. All From The Comfort Of Your Home and In Only 30 Minutes A Day. Click Here: From: Stephen Ladd – Founder, Renegade Golf Fitness Institute Are you serious about your golf game? I mean obsessed with crushing your drives, sticking your irons and draining putts? Not to mention becoming top dog in your foursome? I thought so… No doubt you’ve noticed the rise in popularity of fitness programs for the top players on all the Tours. Maybe you’ve started a fitness program in hopes of adding more power and distance, but aren’t getting the results you were hoping for . . or even worse, you end up injured and can’t play at all. There is one primary reason for this, and I’m going to tell you all about it. But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Stephen Ladd, and my obsession is training golfers as athletes, and developing their bodies to better use their golf skills and play to their peak potential. I have been doing just that for over 16 years… long before the “golf fitness” craze began. =============================================================== THE SENIOR AMATEUR GOLF TOUR CAROLINA TRACE COUNTRY CLUB TOP FIVE SCORES BY FLIGHT =============================================================== |
HOCKENSMITH RECOVERS FOR SENIOR TOUR WIN AT CAROLINA TRACE Sanford, NC April 24, 2014 Ron Hockensmith of Whispering Pines was disappointed after posting a somewhat lackluster 40 on the front side of today's Senior Amateur Golf Tour event at Carolina Trace Country Club - The Creek Course. To make matters worse, the Championship Flight player started the back nine with a triple bogey on hole # 10. "At that point I thought I was just playing out the string", said Hockensmith. However he quickly turned things around, registering 3 birdies on the final 8 holes to finish with a 76 and a 1-shot victory over Thomasville's Dan Anthony. To make it even sweeter, one of those back-side birdies held up for a Skin in the event Skins Pool. While they did play from tees that were almost 400 yards shorter than that of their Champ Flight counterparts, Charlotte's Steve Romito and McLeansville's Ron Brady were able to equal their 1st and 2nd place scores with a 76 and 77 respectively in A Flight competition. "They were the only 2 guys in the flight to break 80" noted Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "Those scores were impressive". James Jones of Raleigh continued his strong B Flight play this season with another win. His 81 was 1 clear of Pinehurst's Tom Kubla and Mike Allison of Durham. The C Flight also saw a repeat winner with Raleigh's Jim Tesch posting the only sub-90 round of the day in the flight with an 89. Dwight Davis of Pittsboro was runner-up with a 91. Next up for the Seniors is The Meadowlands Golf Club near Kernersville on May 1. There are spots available for that event after 2 consecutive sell-outs "on-Tour". Any amateur golfer over 50 can contact Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 for information on competing in that event. ============================================================== Where Will You Be in the 2014 Season Ending Point Standings Race? There are only two ways to get to the year ending National Tournament - win one of the four majors or be one of the Top 15 point earners in your flight. As you plot your tour schedule, be cognizant of the fact, only the top 15 are guaranteed access. Usually, most flight races are tight and depends on how well you play and of course how many tour dates you participate in during 2014. Do you know how many tournaments you will need to play and what place you will need to finish in each tournament to ensure you have your automatic invitation? =============================================================== Rules Review It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score? Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009. I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm. There will be no trick questions or hidden information.
If you do not have a Rules of Golf book handy, go to: usga.org/Rule-Books and-Decisions =============================================================== |
Question from week #248: Rule 18-2 says if a player, his partner or either of their caddies, or the equipment of player/partner touches it purposely or causes his ball in play to move, except as permitted under the Rules, the player is penalized one stroke and the ball must be replaced. Which one of the following would not result in a penalty to the player? A. With his ball sitting in the fairway, a player accidentally moves his ball with a practice swing. B. With his ball unmarked on the putting green, while using his towel to disperse clumps of sand from the putting green, the player moves his ball. C. A players ball sits on pine straw on the edge of a wooded area. When removing an interfering pine cone, the ball moves about 1/4 inch down into the straw. D. In order to identify his ball in the rough, a player uses his finger to steady his ball, while he moves some interfering blades of grass that block the view. Neither the ball is moved nor the lie of the ball altered.
Answer: Only B does not result in a penalty (R23-1). “A” results in a 1-stroke penalty and the ball must be replaced. For why “C” results in a 1-stroke penalty, see the definition of “moved” and Rule18-2a. The ball must be replaced. Failure to replace in either case “A” or “C” results in a 2-stroke penalty (what Tiger got nailed with). “D” is a one stroke penalty also under Rule 18-2a for purposely touching his ball in play. Nothing to replace here, you just can’t purposely touch it unless permitted by a Rule. |

=============================================================== TTour Weather Guidelines Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If Primarily, the course is open, we're going to play. The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness). In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist. Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening. If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start. Bruce |
