Carolina Trace Event Results for May 12, 2022
After
a short break from competition, the Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour
invaded Sanford to take on the fabulous Lake Course at Carolina Trace Country
Club on Thursday May 12th.
The
Champ flight saw Joey Moffitt post his second birdie of the day on 17 to take a
two shot lead into 18. Joey’s score of 80 was good enough to pull out a one
shot victory. It was his first win in 2022. Congrats Joey! Kevin McDougald was
runner up posting a score of 81. Eli Villanueava finished third carding 84,
while Craig Sturdivant shot 85 to claim the fourth place spot.
In
the A flight, Alan Dirk birdied 18 to collect his first win of the season by
carding a score of 76. Tour Director Chuck Smith placed second posting 77.
Third place finisher Michael Lane shot 78. Johnny Adams from the Eastern NC
Tour placed fourth shooting 79, while David Beaver rounds out the top five as
he shot 80.
In
the B flight, Dan Johnson, wins for the first time shooting 80 after several
top five finishes recently. Well done Dan! Willie Boyd and Dick Kuehl
ended the day T2 as both players shot 83. Fourth place was another tie as
William Mock, and Tony Mooneyham from the Eastern NC Tour carded matching
scores of 84. Jeff Patterson completed his round in sixth place with an
85.
The
C flight saw Billy Lunsford fall behind early in his round. Having played with
Billy many times I knew he would never give up. And when he birdied his 17th
hole, it gave him the lead and led to a final score of 83 and a single shot
victory. David Swimm battled Billy all day but finished runner up as he posted
84. Marty Carpenter, Dale Frasier, and Bob Potter from the SE Virginia Tour all
carded 92 to the end the round T3. Rus Riling finished sixth shooting
93.
In
the D flight, Cal Rogers shot 94 to eak out a one shot victory for his first
win. Cal needed a par on his 18th hole and calmly did just that as his par putt
found the bottom of the cup. Great job Cal! Neil Bleau’s 95 was the
runner up score this day. Eddie Watson from the Eastern NC Tour ended his day
in third place with his score of 100. Tour Director Sola Edwards placed fourth
posting 107.
Up
next for the Tour will be Gates Four Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville on
Thursday May 26th. You do not want to miss this
event.
