On Thursday August 4th, the Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour took on the Championship Course at Tanglewood Park. Good weather and great course conditions and greens greeted the competitors.

In the Champ flight, Kevin McDougald pulled out a single shot victory with a score of four over par 74. Joey Moffett was runner up shooting 75. Dean Parziale and John East ended the day T3 by posting a pair of 77’s, while Chris Wilkes rounded out the top five carding a score of 80.

Ken Eichele in the A flight brought his A game to Tanglewood as he posted an even par 70 to win by two shots. Howard Nemenz and Ron Brady completed their rounds with scores of 72 in a T2 finish. David Beaver took fourth place with a score of 73, while Victor Glenn from the Charlotte Tour rounded out the top five with a 74. 

In the B flight, Charles Newman from the Charlotte Tour used back to back birdies enroute to an even par 35 on the front nine and a total score of 75 for the win. Rob Andrews was  runner up a stroke back with his round of 76, while Dan Johnson placed third shooting 77. Gene Jones carded an eagle in his round of 78 to take fourth place, and Russell McDonald from the Charlotte Tour rounded out the top five posting a 79. 

In the C flight, Greg Martin fired a score of 83 to claim victory by three strokes. Runner up Tom Kubla posted a round of 86, while Mike Groom placed third with his round of 88. Rus Rilling and Billy Lunsford finished T4 as each shot scores of 89. 

Eighteen holes of golf was insufficient to produce a winner in the D flight as Sola Edwards and Kelly Brown ended regulation play with matching 90’s which required a sudden victory playoff. And today it most certainly was a sudden victory as Sola calmly rolled in a 60 foot birdie putt to notch another win. Mark Dyvig from the Charlotte Tour finished third posting 93, and Don Senior took fourth place with an even 100.
