On July 11th and July 12th, The Southern Pines Golf Club and Mid Pines Resort hosted the 2022 Sandhills Regional 2 Day Event. Warm weather prevailed for both days of the event. Players arrived from 5 states, representing 11 visiting tours to join the Central Carolina Tour, and the competition was intense. 

In the Champ flight, Dale Fuller from the Eastern NC Tour shot an even par 72 on day 2, backing up his opening day three over par 74. His 146 total score was good enough for the single stroke victory. Runner up Trey Coker from the Louisiana Tour posted 74-73-147, while Eli Villanueva carded 74-74-148 to take third. William Carter fired 81-72-153 and Steve French from the Charlotte Tour shot 73-80-153 finishing T4. 

Alan Dirk in the A flight started hot and remained that way as he posted scores of 73 and one under par 71-144 to take top honors. Masanori Kokubu from the Charlotte Tour shot 77-79 -156 and Ronnie Averett from the Louisiana Tour shot 78-78-156 as they finished T2 for the event. Marshall Miller carded scores of 78-80-158 to claim the fourth spot. Alan Sailors from the Charlotte Tour posted 81-78-159 and Dwayne Divers from the Tampa-Sarasota, FL Tour fired 83-76-159 as they ended the tournament T5.

In the B flight, Joseph Cannatti from the Charlotte Tour brought his A Game to town as he posted scores of 84-82-166 earning him the first place trophy. Eddie Jaggers carded scores of 79-90-169 giving him the runner up position. Third place this day in B flight was a three way tie as Brien Cozart from the Charlotte Tour (86-84), Jeff Patterson (86-84), and Mark Hagerty (85-85) all posted a score of 170.

In the C flight, day two started with Kendell White from the Charlotte Tour, Greg Martin, and Tom Kubla tied for first place with matching scores of 85. As the dust settled at the end of the round, Kendell had added an 86 to total 171 claiming top honors. Greg added a 90 totaling 175 making him the runner up, while Tom posted 94 for his total of 179 to hang on to third. Daniel Keddie and David Jonatha both from the Charlotte Tour matched final scores of 181 as they finished T4 with Daniel posting 90-91 and David carding 88-93.

Also congratulations are in order for James Briggs from the Myrtle Beach-Wilmington Tour as he carded his first hole-in-one on Tour on the 161 yard hole 8. Awesome job James!!

In the D flight, ‘Young’ Joe Rodriguez fired scores of 94-97-191 to claim his second win of the 2022 season. Neil Bleau finishes runner up carding scores of 96-99-195. Mark Dyvig from the Charlotte Tour took third place posting 97-100-197, while Gregg Scott also from the Charlotte Tour shot 100-98-198 placing fourth. Fifth place was a tie as Gilbert STEVE Gough from the Charlotte Tour shot 95-104-199 and Eddie Watson from the Eastern NC Tour posted a score of 98-101-199.
