=============================================================== Mill Creek Golf Club 10:00 AM Shotgun Mill Creek Golf Club
Mill Creek Golf & Country Club, established in 1995, has tree-lined fairways and hilly terrain. Mill Creek will test your course management skills and will force you to consider using every club in your bag. If you can execute what you visualize, great scores are available. The signature hole is No.18, a 428-yard, par 4 offering the player two fairways to choose from. This is also the 2nd Major of the 2015 season where double points are awarded and flight winners punch their ticket to an automatic berth to the National Tournament at Hilton Head. Club Address:1700 St. Andrews Drive Mebane, NC 27302 Phone: (919) 563-4653 Special Notice - Please Read: NOTICE - COURSE CONDITIONS AT MILL CREEK It has come to my attention that course conditions at Mill Creek, particularly some of their greens, are well below Tour standards. Despite this fact we will be going on with our event as scheduled. I am sending out this information to you because I feel it's my duty to fully disclose negative conditions that would have a bearing on your decision of whether or not to play. If you have signed up for the event and this notice changes your mind on playing I totally understand. If that is the case, please notify me of your decision to cancel as soon as possible. If you are deciding on whether or not to play, or just haven't contacted me yet, I wanted to let you know of the prevalent conditions so you can make an informed decision. I would rather not have you compete than leave the course sorry you came out. Thanks for your understanding and continued support of the Tour. BruceSignature Hole - No.18, a 428-yard, par 4 (from the tips) - you choose which of two fairways to approach the green but bunkers are available for indecisiveness (see below).

=============================================================== THE SENIOR AMATEUR GOLF TOUR THE FOREST OAKS CC TOP FIVE SCORES BY FLIGHT =============================================================== |
SENIORS GO LOW IN TOUR EVENT Greensboro, NC May 14, 2015 Aided by good weather and a golf course in great condition, Flight winners and ruuners-up went low in the Senior Amateur Golf Tour event held at Forest Oaks Country Club. Some of the best scores of the season were registered in every flight. Winston-Salem's Howard Nemenz fired a 1-under 71 to take the top spot in the Championship Flight, a score equalled by the A Flight king - James Jones of Raleigh. While Jones played from tees that were almost 500 yards shorter than those played by Nemenz, both scores were extremely impressive. Fuquay Varina's Randy Fuquay led a trio of golfers who posted 75 along with Sanford's Craig Sturdivant and Yadkinville's Tom Fagerli in the Top Flight, while the A Flight ruuner-up was Bob Kober of Colfax with a 73. Pittsboro's Dick Schuler continued his solid play of late "on-Tour' as his 76 took top honors in the B Flight. He needed every good shot that he hit, edging Raleigh's Scott Fink and Louis Herndon of Graham by a single stroke. "Dick's been on fire lately in Tour play", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "He's someone to watch in every event". Not to be outdone, Durham's Rick Brewer, playing in his first year with the Tour shot an even 80 to take the C Flight crown. He edged Morrisville's Warren Henderson by a single shot for the title. "Those were two pretty strong C Flight scores", noted Hallenbeck. The Senior Tour next travels to Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane for the season's second major championship on May 21. There are still some spots avaiable for that venue. =============================================================== Rules Review It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score? Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009. I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm. There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

Question from week #303
In a stroke play event, on the par three 17th island green, which designates the entire water hazard with yellow stakes, Robbie has breached two Rules with his first stroke: first he hit his tee ball from just forward of the tee markers and the ball unfortunately went long, over the green, into the water hazard. A fellow competitor pointed out the fact that Robbie had not played from within the teeing ground. Robbie’s next stroke:
A. May be from the DZ, hitting three.
B. May be from the DZ, hitting five.
C. It Must be from the teeing ground, hitting three.
D. It Must be from the teeing ground, hitting five.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer
C. In stroke play, when starting the play of a hole, if a ball is played from outside the teeing ground, the stroke is cancelled. The player incurs a 2-stroke penalty and must correctly play a ball from within the teeing ground. Any strokes, including penalty strokes, associated with the wrongly teed ball do not count for the player’s score. R11-4b. |

=============================================================== TTour Weather Guidelines Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If Primarily, the course is open, we're going to play. The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness). In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist. Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening. If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
