"Improve your golf mental toughness 10-fold" Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world." Yet what do golfers do about it? Well, most often absolutley nothing! Not necessarily because they don't want to, but sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them! Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf EVERY golfer can benefit from increasing their mental toughness and harnessing the full power of thier mind! Many golfers naively get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense! EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly. It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques that will have you absorbing more from lessons) It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!). It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win, or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!

=============================================================== GOOD WEATHER BRINGS LOW SCORES IN SENIOR AMATEUR EVENT Lexington, NC April 11, 2013 After suffering through some tough weather conditions early in the 2013 Senior Amateur Golf Tour schedule, 95 golfers were treated to sunny skies and warm temperatures today at Sapona Ridge Country Club and the scores posted reflected the excellent conditions. Impressive numbers topped the A, B, and C Flight competitions in particular. Bob Kober of Colfax, playing in only his second event in the A Flight, fired a 74 for a comfortable 4 stroke win over Zebulon's Randy Bunn and Winston-Salem's Mark Robinson. Both Bunn and Robinson are Tour veterans, who between them have over 20 years and 300 events of experience "on-Tour". Another Tour "vet", Burlington's Dexter Barbee also shot a 74 (albeit from shorter tees than the A Flight) to top the B Flight standings. He edged Durham's Jerry Widdowson by a single stroke. It was the first time Widdowson finished "in-the-money" this season. Greensboro's Randy Jones won his second title of the year in the Championship Flight with a 75, one better than a pair of golfers: Lewisville's Mike Smith and Winston-Salem's Joey Moffitt. Playing in his first event, Winston-Salem's Tommy Hooker shocked everyone by firing an 81 to top the C Flight. He was 3 strokes clear of Pittsboro's Dick Schuler and Jerry Snead of Zebulon. The Senior Tour next plays at Willow Creek Country Club in High Point on April 18. There are spots open for that event. Any amateur golfer over 50 can contact Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 for information about playing in a Tour event. Rules Review It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score? Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm. There will be no trick questions or hidden information. If you do not have a Rules of Golf book handy, go to: usga.org/Rule-Books and-Decisions |
ONLY WHEN THE FORM OF PLAY IS A FACTOR WILL IT BE STATED If you do not have a Rules of Golf book handy, go to: http://www.usga.org/Rule-Books/Rules-of-Golf/Rules-and-Decisions/ If you have any questions pertaining to this or previous quizzes, please ask. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Question from week #195 Patti’s drive comes to rest in the fairway in an area where the club’s resident Canada Geese gaggle apparently held a party and sleep-over. She believes this area should be deemed ground under repair, and that she is entitled to relief under R25-1, Abnormal Ground Condition. She lifts, cleans and drops her ball free of the area. It is then that a fellow competitor tells her that the goose droppings are loose impediments and not GUR and that she must play the ball from her original position. So Patti again lifts her ball, uses her foot to remove a couple of the “loose impediments”, and replaces her ball on its original spot. She hits her next ball onto the green and takes two putts to complete the play of the hole. What is Patti’s score for the hole? A. 4 B. 5 C. 6 D. 7
Answer: B. Patti made four strokes at her ball and had one penalty stroke for a total of 5. Patti’s mistake was assuming the area her tee ball ended up was GUR. An area that is not marked as GUR by the Committee cannot be deemed so by any player, only by a member of the Committee or a designated representative. Had she asked her fellow competitors, she likely would have learned the proper designation for the droppings are loose impediments. As disgusting as that effort may seem, the player is allowed to move them at will. Since she could not take relief under R25-1, when she lifted her ball she breached R18-2. She is penalized one stroke and must replace the ball. Even though her ball is in play where she dropped free of the area, R20-6 affords her the authority to correct her error. If she fails to correct her error, her 1-stroke penalty becomes a Loss of Hole penalty in match play or 2-stroke penalty in stroke play for playing from a wrong place. =============================================================== |

=============================================================== TTour Weather Guidelines Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If Primarily, the course is open, we're going to play. The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness). In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist. Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening. If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start. Bruce |
