The Challenge Results from August 11th, 2022
On
Thursday August 11th, Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour made their way
to Graham to tackle The Challenge Golf Club. Cloudy conditions helped keep the
temperature down, and made for a pleasant day of golf.
In
the Champ flight, John East put together a consistent front nine shooting even
par. After a couple of minor hiccups on the back, John birdied four of the
final five holes to post a one under par 71 for the win. Kevin McDougald placed
second with a score of 77, while Joey Moffitt carded 81 to take third.
Jamie
Branham shot 76 in the A flight collecting the victory by two strokes. Bob Dail
and Ben Wheaton shot identical 78’s as they finished T2. Coung MIKE Ton took
fourth place shooting 79, as Dan Anthony rounded out the top five posting a
score of 80.
In
the B flight, James Demyan carded 4 birdies on the back nine to shoot two over
par 74 in victory. Runner up Gene Jones posted 76, while Rob Andrews grabbed
the third place spot posting 77. Fourth place was filled by Michael Broadway
with a score of 80, while Eddie Jaggers fired 81 to round out the top
five.
Eighteen
holes of golf couldn’t produce a winner in the C flight as James McPherson and
Rus Rilling finished regulation play with scores of 82. The sudden victory
playoff started on hole one. The players tied the hole and continued on to hole
two where James rolled in a par putt Rus was unable to match. Ed McNally
finished in third place posting 84. David Swimm carded an 85 to take fourth,
and Levin Touchton from the Charlotte Tour shot 86 rounding out the top five.
In
the D flight, Neil Bleau fired 89 winning by five shots in his first victory of
the season after several runner up finishes. Great job Neil! Kelly Brown was
runner up posting a round of 94. Director Sola Edwards placed third with a
round of 95. Victor White ended his first round as a new member with a score of
97 finishing the day in fourth place.
