Results from Gates Four Tournament
The
Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour arrived in Fayetteville on Thursday
May 26th to tackle Gates Four Golf and CC. The weather was near perfect for
golf as the competitors proceeded to their assigned holes.
In
the Champ flight, Eli Villanueava shot a four over par 76 to take home the top
honor. The runner up, posting 78, was Steve Lassiter by virtue of his three
birdies. Kevin McDougald came in third place carding 81, while Joey Moffitt
placed fourth shooting 82.
Michael
Lane in the A flight started his round on cruise control as he was one under
par after his first eight holes. After a couple of minor hiccups, Mike righted
the ship and birdied three of his last four holes to end the round at one under
par 71 for the victory. Runner up John East posted two over par 74, and Ken
Eichele shot 78 placing third. Tour Director Chuck Smith collected fourth place
carding 80, while Mark Harper shot 82 to round out the top five.
In
the B flight, Willie Boyd rode his back to back birdies mid round to victory
with a score of four over par 76. Ben Wheaton shot 79 to take second place,
while Gene Jones took third place with a score of 81. Sam Oglesby and Dan
Johnson finished T4 as both fired rounds of 82.
In
the C flight, Stephen Ellerbe claimed victory by playing consistent golf.
Stephen shot 41-42-83 with a birdie on each side to win by four strokes. Terry
Lunsford was runner up posting a score of 87. Third place was captured by
Richard Vincent from the Orlando, FL Tour with a score of 88. Ed McNally carded
90 finishing fourth, while Mike Groom rounded out the top five scoring
91.
Kelly
Brown in the D flight had a hot putter Thursday as he rolled in no less than
three birdie putts enroute to an 87 to win by five shots. Cal Rogers was second
with a score of 92. Neil Bleau wrapped up third place posting 93, while Tour
Director Sola Edwards grabbed fourth with a score of 97. Marb Meyers rounded
out the top five shooting 104.
