Forest Oaks CC Results
The
Thursday June 23rd Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour event was
contested at the former home of the Greater Greensboro Open. The weather at
Forest Oaks CC was warm and the course conditions were perfect which led to
great scores.
In
the Champ flight, Dean Parziale continued his excellent play as he brought in
scores of 36-35 for a one under par 71. That turned into a one shot victory for
Dean. Runner up Thursday was Eli Villanueva at even par 72. Craig Sturdivant
took third place carding 75, while Joey Moffitt placed fourth shooting 77.
Eighteen
holes of golf could not produce a winner in the A flight as Ron Brady and
Wilson Shelton both fired scores of 73. Tour rules require an on course playoff
for first place so both players went back to hole 18. Ron and Wilson tied hole
18 and then hole 1 before returning to 18 again. This time Ron birdied the hole
to claim victory. John East and Grant Hoffman ended their rounds T3 with scores
of 74. Dave Turner rounded out the top five by posting 75.
In
the B flight, Ben Wheaton pulled out a three stroke win by shooting 36-37 for a
one over par 73. Willie Boyd continues his fine play posting 76 as runner up.
Gene Jones also continued to play well taking third place carding 77 while
Chris Rowland grabbed fourth place with a score of 78. Mike Turbeville and
James Demyan round out the top five with identical scores of 79.
Visiting
members of the Charlotte Tour took control of the C flight early and held on to
take the top four spots. Taking the top spot it was Levin Touchton posting 78,
while David Jonotha was runner up with an 82. Rudi Heath finished in third
place scoring 83, as Sindo Mayor was fourth carding 85. Fifth place was a two
way tie as Rus Rilling and Billy Lunsford both shot 86.
The
C flight saw Cal Rogers collect his second win of the season by four shots by
posting 87. Neil Bleau and Dennis Huffstutler completed their rounds T2 with
scores of 91. Meanwhile, Sola Edwards placed fourth shooting 92. Eddie Watson
from the Eastern NC Tour rounded out the top five scoring 95.
Next
up for the Central Carolina Senior Tour is the 2 Day Sandhills Regional to be
contested at Southern Pines Golf Club and Mid Pines Resort on July 11th and
12th. There is still time to sign up.
