Willow Creek Results
On
Thursday August 18th, The Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour arrived in
High Point to tackle the High Point CC Willow Creek course. The players found
warm temperatures, perfect course conditions, and speedy greens.
In
the Champ flight, Craig Studivant took advantage of the perfect conditions as
he posted an even par 72 in the five stroke win. Runner up Joey Moffett carded
a score of 77. Dean Parziale and John East finished T3 with their rounds of 78.
While Chris Wilkes shot 79 to round out the top five scores.
Long
time Tour veteran Howard Nemenz was firing on all cylinders in the A flight as
he also shot an even par 72 in his NINE shot victory. Howard posted no less
than five birdies on the day. Keith Thomas was the runner up as he carded a score
of 81. Willie Boyd and Jamie Branhan ended the day T3 with scores of 82.
Meanwhile, Dan Anthony and Jack Stanley had matching scores of 84 as they
finished T5.
In
the B flight, Mike Wallace shot 80 to win for the third time to go along with a
couple runner up finishes on the Willow Creek course over the past several
years. Apparently this course suits his ‘eye’ very well. Congrats Mike!!
Mark Robinson became the runner up to Mike shooting a score of 82. James
Demyan, Phanmaly (Paul) Chanthaphone, and Sam Oglesby all posted 83 to end the
round T3. David Teague’s 85 was enough to claim sixth place.
Mike
Groom broke through for his first victory of the season in the C flight by
posting 86 in the four shot win. Sayaleth Keomanivong finished runner up in his
first tour event carding 90. Ed McNally took third place with a score of 92,
while Billy Lunsford placed fourth with his score of 94. Tom Kubla and Steve
Howard ended the day T5 shooting 96.
A
sudden victory playoff was required in the D flight as Sola Edwards and Victor
White both shot scores of 93. Sola claimed the victory as the first playoff
hole became a short game ‘contest’ when she was able to chip and one putt.
Unfortunately Victor was unable to drop the tying putt to continue the playoff.
Kelly Brown shot 95 in the third place finish, while Mark Dyvig from the
Charlotte Tour placed fourth with his round of 98. Ket Jones rounded out the
top five scores by posting 100.
