Fuquay-Varina, NC  (April 30, 2015)  -  James Jones has got to like Bentwinds Country Club.  For the second year in a row, the Raleigh Senior Amateur Golf Tour member cruised to victory at this venue.  While a number of Tour members had a hard time getting used to the speed of the greens which were running at 12.5 on the Stempmeter, Jones turned in a 77 for a relatively comfortable 3-shot margin over both McLeansville's Ron Brady and local resident Randy Fuquay.

"I didn't hit it great today, just kept it steady" said Jones when asked what was the key to his round.  "I did have 3 birdies on the back side which helped".

Pittsboro's Dick Schuler equaled both his best career Tour score and Jones' scoring effort in the A Flight by taking the top spot in the B Flight with a 77.  "Dick's been with us a number of years", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck,  "Today's score shows me he was at the top of his game".  Like Jones' A Flight margin, Schuler was also 3 shots clear of his nearest competitor, Greenville's Pat Kelly.

The low scores didn't stop there however, as Greensboro's Mike Hunter posted one of his lowest Tour scores ever with an 84 that brought him the C Flight crown.  The only other flight members to break 90 were Clayton's Tom Miller and Morrisville's Warren Henderson, both with 88s.

While playing from tees that were over 300 yards longer than the rest of the field, Ron Hockensmith of Whispering Pines was top dog in the Championship Flight with a 78.  He was 4 shots clear of last week's Championship Flight winner - Dan Anthony of Thomasville.

Next up for the Seniors is The Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen.  There are just a few spots open for that event which will be held Thursday, May 7.
